About

Hello! My name is Petrina and I’m your Structural Integration therapist here at Sravayatti SI Therapy.

MY BACKGROUND

My working life started off in the global corporate world and took in experiences across nearly every industry under the sun – biochemistry, economics, finance & accounting, and most recently technical IT. I once lived a life of rigid, process-oriented structure, tied to my desk and to a schedule dictated by someone else. Now I’ve left that world to pursue my heart’s calling to bring the physically restorative and spiritually expansive benefits of bodywork therapy to as many people around the world as I can.

Alongside my corporate career, I built a parallel career in the holistic and wellbeing industry at the now very much missed Relaxation Centre. The Relax, as it was often affectionately called, was a consistent golden thread through my corporate years. I spent just over 10 years working there as a Duty Manager. My experiences there taught me what it means to receive compassionate total acceptance. All the life teachings that I was privileged to receive and observe there were overwhelmingly instrumental in opening my awareness and forging who I am today. It was a very special place indeed.

Ultimately, I chose to follow this golden thread to a way of living that now allows me to express my spiritual values of space, dynamism, and finding freedom through meeting all of life with conscious, intelligent courage. These are the same qualities that I seek to bring to the treatment space that you and I will create together.

MY TRAINING

I first qualified as a Holistic Massage therapist at the highly regarded Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB) back in 2013. Proof of being young and foolish is that I studied for that qualification while holding both my corporate 9-5 and weekend Relaxation Centre jobs at the same time!

I also hold a degree in BSc (Hons) Biochemistry with Medical Biochemistry from the University of Bristol. Somewhere along I also picked up a BSc in Economics from the University of Bath.

I regularly attend professional training workshops and supervision sessions to keep my skills up to date. I’m endlessly fascinated by new research about human health and the human body. As I’ve grown in experience and technical ability, and also as a person, my soft tissue work has organically developed towards a much more targeted, precise, and solution-focused way of working. I have zero interest in simply helping you just “relax”. I am experienced, intelligent, knowledgeable, and insightful, and I draw upon all of that to help you address specific musculoskeletal concerns and get you back to greater ease of movement.

Apart from my certification with Tom Myers’ school, Anatomy Trains, I also follow the work of James Earls, Til Luchau, and Gary Ward of Anatomy in Motion. As an ongoing student of Tom Myers, I’m fascinated by the psoas and diaphragm complex and how these structures can greatly influence the shape we present externally to the world and influence the shape of who we think we are.

In my personal life, my friends often tell me that I should have either trained as an osteopath or as a psychotherapist. Maybe one day I’ll think about it…. for the moment the next qualification I’ve already set my sights on is a MSc in Public Health from the University of Bristol. My esteemed late father really wasn’t far wrong when he said he’d somehow raised a brood of eternal students. Given how much of my professional life has been in the health and wellness industry, maybe I should’ve also followed his early advice to study medicine…. maybe…..

WHO I SERVE

People who are most attracted to the work I offer tend to be in their 40’s and older. They’re usually at a stage of life where they’re beginning to realise that injuries and aches & pains no longer resolve as quickly as they used to, in spite of maintaining a fit and active lifestyle. Feeling this way sparks a search for something more, something that will sustainably address these aches and pains and reassure them that continued freedom of movement hasn’t become a thing of the past.

I have seen and helped clients experiencing a range of musculoskeletal issues – knee or hip problems, those recovering or preparing for joint replacement surgery, or others experiencing issues related to pelvic health, both men and women. Common neck and shoulder issues also regularly walk through my treatment door. Becoming a Structural Integrator has transformed the way I see the body and how I approach tackling the human 3D puzzle that’s now feeling pain and lack of ease. I’m now a far more effective therapist than I’ve ever been, which makes helping people become better versions of themselves an even greater joy than it already was before.

Other interesting things I’ve done in the past include working with elite martial arts stunt crews such as Cascade Demo Team in Paris and London, who were previous semi-finalists in Britain’s Got Talent. I find they inspire with their embodiment of full energetic, creative flow. My work has taken me as far afield as the western Algerian Sahara, where I helped the staff of an up and coming spa hotel to experience world class massage treatments. My travelling days continue – my next ventures will be to Amsterdam and Switzerland to attend continuing development masterclasses for qualified Structural Integrators.

I genuinely look forward to the honour of creating with you a treatment that helps awaken you to the amazing wonder of who you are and allows you to return to your flow, wherever you may be in the world.
